President Yoweri Museveni early this week issued a statement through his official facebook page asking National Council of Sports to comply a list of athletes who have excelled in the common wealth games,Olympic games and during recognized African championships since 1954 to date.
State Minister for Sports Hon.Obua Denis Hamson has retaliated by saying a robust move has been put in place to comply to the Presidential directive to ensure the process is quickened.
Hon. Obua added that only registered 51 sports Federations will benefit from the pledge and he also clarified on athletes who excelled during East African Regional Championships noting that these aren’t part of the beneficiaries.
The Minister confirmed the above during an interview with UBC TV at Ministry of Education and Sports Headquarters in Kampala.
